Headline - What help is available?

There are plenty of ways in which you can get help throughout the process of producing a Travel Plan.

The Travel Plan process is not as complex as it first seems and this website is designed to make things simple for you.

There is a wealth of free advice and support available, some of which is listed below. As part of the Department for Transport’s commitment to reduce congestion and improve transport, they have funded several initiatives to make Travel Plans easier to put in place.

Firstly, this website should provide everything that you need in order to start you off. It contains contact details for each district council’s Travel Co-ordinator. The Travel Co-ordinator is there to offer free advice and support through the whole Travel Plan process, from starting up to launching and monitoring your Plan.

The Travel Co-ordinators have produced a Greater Manchester Travel Plan Resource Pack, which is available in its entirety on this site.

The Resource Pack offers a step-by-step guide to implementing your own Travel Plan, and is packed with examples from around Greater Manchester.

A network of people responsible for implementing Travel Plans has been formed. This is called TRACK (TRAvel Co-ordinator networK). TRACK meets quarterly to provide updates on best practice, share ideas, and offer support to each other.

Greater Manchester also runs ‘On TRACK Awards’ - an accreditation scheme for organisations with Travel Plans that meet a certain standard. Recipients of the award are eligible to receive benefits to help them to implement their Plans, including discounts and a grant towards the cost of putting measures in place.

Local organisations are also able to take advantage of the Greater Manchester Car Share Scheme. This has been set up to provide a cheap and easy alternative to selecting and setting up your own in-house car-sharing database.
