Headline - Criteria

All workplaces that have a site in Greater Manchester are eligible to apply for the award.

The criteria are:

Bronze

Organisations achieving the bronze award will have taken the first step to having a successful Travel Plan – producing a written document stating their commitment to implement a Travel Plan.

The Travel Plan must:

  • Contain a statement of intent / objectives, modal shift targets and an action plan (stating who will implement each measure and by when).
  • Have been approved and adopted by CEO, MD or equivalent.
  • Show that some consultation has taken place with employees (usually through a staff travel survey).
  • Have obtained baseline modal split data.
  • The organisation must also have a named person responsible for the delivery of the TP.

The submitted Travel Plan will be assessed using the Department for Transport Travel Plan Evaluation Tool . In order to attain the award, submitted documents must achieve a score of 45% or more.

Applicants obtaining a bronze On TRACK Award can apply for a grant to help them get to the silver level.

Silver

An organisation achieving this award will demonstrate that they have implemented two or more measures / initiatives as part of the TP (i.e. if an organisation already has cycle parking facilities onsite, then produces a TP, they still need to implement a further two initiatives). Exceptions can be made for organisations that implemented such schemes as a commitment to sustainable transport prior to producing their written TP.

Gold

An organisation applying for the gold award will have to demonstrate that they have produced a strategy for monitoring and reviewing Plan progress and revision. They will also have integrated features of the Travel Plan into the organisations' activities, for example recruitment, environment, business travel and provision of company benefits.

The organisation will also have achieved a 5% modal shift away from SOV use on their baseline.
