The Department of Transport and Local Government in the Regions (DTLR) is responsible for developing transport and environmental policy. Its web site provides information on transport policy and advice on producing Travel Plans.

The ten Greater Manchester Local Authorities and the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority have to submit a Local Transport Plan (LTP) which details a five year transport strategy for their area and is a bid for funding from the Government. This web site contains a copy of the Greater Manchester Local Transport Plan (GMLTP).

The Association for Commuter Transport (ACT) is a useful source of advice and information on Travel Plans.

TravelWise is an organisation that promotes sustainable travel and shares information and best practice on Travel Plans.

Both of the above sites provide links to parts of Energy Saving Trust, an organisation set up by the Government to highlight best practice. Powershift provides grants for clean fuel conversions.
